Is Chris McCandless foolish or an Idealsit

After reading the Artical "Death of an Innocent" I have came to a pretty strong assumption about Chris, also known as Alex. In a way i do feel that he was an idealist. I say this becaise it was obvious to see that he was willing to give up all his belongings and his comfortable way of living just to live free of society, his heart was in the right sport but honestly his head wasnt. Now i'm not saying he was nessicerly a foolish man because he realy wasnt he was actualy very smart graduating from Emory University with honnors as well as being an acomplished athlete. But on the contray i honestly believe that some of the things he did was foolish, like wondering into the wild with only a couple lbs of rice, no money, no map or watch. I feel like Chris deinitly had a transcendentalist way of thinking simply because of his love for nature and how he looked at the grand theme of things rather than the materialistic things of life.
